Joe has been performing and teaching for more than 30 years, appearing in major venues, theaters, clubs, country clubs, jazz festivals, weddings, funerals, and events across the United States. His career highlights include performing for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, and numerous Detroit Jazz Festivals.

Raised on the streets of Detroit, Joe studied classical percussion with Norm Ficket and Sam Tundo of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra; jazz with Jeff Hamilton and Ed Soph; rock with Mark Craney and Kenny Aronoff; and Cuban jazz with Changuito. He has toured extensively throughout the U.S., performing in show bands at hotels and clubs and on cruise ships.

Joe has also served as a house drummer for numerous Detroit theaters and is frequently called upon to play for national touring acts visiting the city.

Though he began his career working heavily with pop and rock artists, Joe’s true passion lies in jazz and Latin music, where he has focused much of his recent performing and recording work. He recently completed Part 1 of his instructional DVD, “Crash Course in Drumming,” and recorded a jazz-influenced Christmas album with his wife.
